Reply with quote | #1 | Hey...just picked up one of the earliest horror movies I remember watching in my youth. A movie called The Exorcist. Yeah, probably everybody here has seen it at one time or other. I picked this up on DVD and it's the unedited remastered etc version of the movie, now when I watched it, I thought, maybe I haven't seen it before, or maybe it just didn't stick in my head.
Anyhow, but one interesting thing that did stick in my head, that I remember hearing from my youth was about the original theatrical release of the movie. It was apparently so scary, it actually had to be chopped down a bit before it even made it to theaters all across the nation.
Most of what I've looked up seems to be pure speculation. Most ranging from scenes to er inappropriate for the audiences they would be aimed at, to more interesting things, such is subliminal messages, pictures, weird background sound, or whatever.
Anyhow, Just wanted to know what everybody's thoughts on this may be.
And...The thing I always wanted to know was....well...what was it? Is it true? was there an "original" movie that got chopped? Does the original exist anywhere? Is it available? Or is it just a load, something attached to this movie for whatever reason, because it was so cool to start with.
